Garfield Place Apartments
Permanent supportive housing for men and women diagnosed with a severe mental illness who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.
Tenants receive a stable, secure place to live with ongoing care and supportive services.

Emergency Shelter
For single adult men who need a safe place now.
Homeless single adult men are underserved among people living unhoused in St. Louis. PPCS provides a safe, caring alternative to living on the street, with basic needs and support services that help residents stabilize their lives.
The shelter relocated in July 2024 to PPCS’s Community Campus in the St. Louis Place neighborhood.
At the shelter, PPCS provides:
- Beds for 100 men per night
- Three meals a day, seven days a week
- Showers, laundry, lockers, and safe shelter
- Case management, support groups, and occupational therapy
- Connections to health, mental health, veteran, disability, and housing resources
Employment
More than 50% of residents are employed at any given time.
Mental Health
About 30% of residents live with mental illness.
Substance Use
About 30% of residents have substance abuse problems.
Veterans
About 15% of residents are veterans.
Need Shelter?
How to access a bed
PPCS Emergency Shelter requires a referral. The shelter does not accept walk-ins and is not open to the public.
Option 1
Call 2-1-1, the United Way Housing Helpline, and ask for access to shelter. If a bed is not available the first day, continue trying early each morning.
Option 2
Go to St. Patrick Center Welcome Center at 800 N. Tucker Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63101. Strategic arrival times are 8 a.m. or 1 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Garfield Place Apartments
Supportive housing with wraparound care.
Garfield Place Apartments provides a stable, secure home for men and women diagnosed with a severe mental illness who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.
Opened by PPCS in 2014, the program is guided by Housing First and Harm Reduction models of care.
Supportive services include:
- Trauma counseling
- Sobriety support
- Nursing services
- Case management
- Meals
- Recreational activities
- Life skills development
