Since receiving a grant award from the St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) in the fall, 80 men staying at the Jugan Shelter have participated in the Campus Jobs Program. While receiving paid work, program participants also receive job skills training, help preparing for interviews, and work together as a team.
In February, we held a graduation ceremony for men who completed the program. Clients, staff, and our partners from SLATE came together to celebrate their hard work. During the ceremony, we heard directly from some of the participants, including Nick*, who said, “These guys became my coworkers. I can’t tell you what it means to be at a homeless shelter and still feel like somebody.”

Participants who completed the 12-week program received certificates of completion and recognition of their achievements. Some men had already secured jobs with prominent local employers at the time of their graduation!
We are proud of all the participants’ commitment to the program and can’t wait to see where their new skills take them next.
