This winter marked a historic effort to serve our neighbors facing extreme weather. As summer faded, many of our neighbors’ homes were still uninhabitable due to the widespread tornado damage. Facing a critical, and increasing need, we quickly worked to meet the urgent need for shelter across the city.

“Our priority is to ensure people have a safe, warm place to stay—one that treats them with dignity and respect,” said PPCS CEO Anthony D’Agostino.

Founded in response to a tragic loss of life in Soulard during the winter of 1981, PPCS continues its mission to protect our most vulnerable neighbors when it matters most. In partnership with the St. Louis Continuum of Care, the City of St. Louis, and fellow providers, PPCS activated additional shelter capacity from the first frost through the final freeze.

Because of your support, over 64 days PPCS provided 13,000 nights of safe shelter across seven locations, serving over 1,000 individuals and an average of 204 people each night of activation.

This work builds on PPCS’s year-round 100-bed shelter and housing programs. We are deeply grateful for the compassion and commitment of our partners, supporters, staff, and volunteers that made this life-saving effort possible.
