Meet Aaron
Aaron’s journey with Peter & Paul Community Services began during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, he was a client at the Labre 
Center, while also maintaining a job.
When layoffs hit during COVID, Aaron lost his job, but he never lost the support of the staff around him. He remembers how hard they worked to keep everyone safe and steady during a frightening time. Living with a mental health condition, Aaron has faced challenges that can make stability feel out of reach, but he found consistency in the care and encouragement he received.
Today, Aaron has lived at Garfield Place Apartments for over a year. “It’s nice to have an apartment, and there’s great support here,” he shared. After moving through a variety of housing programs in the past and experiencing significant instability, having a place of his own means everything. “My favorite part is having my own apartment and independence,” he said. For Aaron, independence does not mean being alone. He values the morning support groups and simply having someone to talk to when he needs it.

Aaron credits much of his progress to the staff who walk alongside him each day. “It’s hard to keep on track, but Will and Jamie keep me on track and check on me,” he said. “They’ve been real friends.” Their steady encouragement has helped him stay focused on his goals, including pursuing employment and getting back to his family. In his free time, Aaron enjoys building computers, a hobby that reflects his patience and attention to detail.
Looking back, Aaron is grateful for how far he has come. “It’s amazing what Peter & Paul does. They change lives, help us be independent, and take stress off of family. They really do beautiful things and have been great for me,” he said. His advice to others who may be struggling is simple but heartfelt: “Stay strong.” After a year of stability, support, and renewed confidence, Aaron’s story is a reminder that with the right foundation, lasting change is possible.
