We are one month into our two-month collaborative pilot program to house immigrant and refugee families at the Peter & Paul Community Campus.
PPCS partnered with local organizations that formed the Housing Immigrant Families (HIF) coalition to address the unmet need in our community for families without a support system or safe place to sleep at night. Within weeks HIF member organizations began moving unhoused immigrant families onto a floor of the tower at the Community Campus.

The program currently serves 10 families representing four different countries. “The families are happy, safe, and forming a support network,” said Director of Welcome Neighbor STLs HumanKIND STL and START programs Ann Wittman. “While some of the parents are at work, those who stay home help each other. Often without a shared language, they find common ground cleaning together and playing with the kids in the playroom.”
Refugee and immigrant families without housing face unique challenges. Instead of trying to navigate a complex system alone while in crisis, they now have a safe place to sleep, compassion, and support.
